Movie news: Cold Storage to be released Tuesday May 4th

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Cold Storage the movie is being released through Lions Gate on Tuesday May 4, 2010. We provided the Sony F900/3 camera, HD monitors and tech support for the movie. Working with Director Tony Elwood and DP Lyn Moncrief, I served as DIT/1st AC on the suspense thriller. The production took place five years ago this month in the Charlotte area and the mountains of NC near the Tennessee border.

It was a fantastic experience to work with Tony and Lyn and the rest of the crew.  We were very fortunate to employ the world famous Zeiss Digi-prime lenses for the production, the quality of the glass made a big difference.

Movie Trivia: Our F900/3 used to shoot scenes with actor James Garner.

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

In November 2005 we were contracted to provide our Sony F900/3 to shoot all of the James Garner scenes for the movie “The Ultimate Gift”.  I served as the DIT (Digital Image Technician) on the set that day. The famous Actor James Garner completed all of his scenes in one day. In addition, the director Michael Sajbel decided to use our camera as a prop to be seen at the end of the movie. This is the part where Jason Stevens (Drew Fuller) comes in to find where his grandfather Howard ‘Red’ Stevens (James Garner) had videotaped his will.

That Camera is still in use today. Last used to shoot interviews with Charlotte Bobcats during the 2010 NBA playoffs.

F900 tape based camera now delivers digital files

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Thanks to the Aja Ki-Pro and the Nano Flash record our tape based F900′s can now deliver digital media files.
Both of them allows us to record from the F900 and deliver digital files. This would come in handy in the field by having the media already digitized and ready for use for quick turn or for the web.

You could still record HDCAM tape footage for backup or archive material.
